Meet Brandan Wilson: Park Heights Aquatics Supervisor

April 25, 2024

Join us in giving a warm welcome to Brandan Wilson, our new Aquatics Supervisor at Park Heights. With his varied professional history, Brandan brings a unique bled of tech expertise and aquatic passion to this role. Prepare to embark on exciting aquatic journeys under Brandan’s leadership as he spearheads the development of engaging aquatics activities for our community, all while indulging in his favorite hobbies—yep, you guessed it—swimming and scuba diving!

What excites you about being at the J?

I’m most excited about having all of the resources that I need and my ability to begin adding to my great team of lifeguards and swim instructors so that we can begin offering swim lessons and other programming on a broader scale to the surrounding community.

How did you come to your position?

I grew up as a competitive swimmer and spent most of my life in and around the water. I first began as a lifeguard and then as a pool manager and then I coached summer and high school swim teams. Most recently I served as the Director of Aquatics for a local university and then pivoted careers to working in technology.

What do you like most about your job so far?

I really enjoy how friendly and helpful everyone is. I work really well in a team setting and I know that being able to brainstorm with all of my colleagues in Aquatics will really be helpful when creating and implementing fun new programs and services.

Describe your typical day.

A typical day in my role as an aquatic supervisor requires a combination of vigilance, leadership, and customer service to ensure a safe and enjoyable aquatic experience for all patrons. My schedule ranges from online meetings with team members to being in the water teaching swim techniques.

What is one accomplishment you’re most proud of?

I most proud of the swimming programs that I have created that have taught thousands of children to swim.

Who were your childhood heroes?
I’ve been inspired by so many characters and people. From Michelangelo from the ninja turtles to Ken Chenault former CEO of American Express.

What’s the best piece of career/life advice you’ve ever received?
The best piece of advice I’ve received was that change is inevitable, so do your best to be a thought leader and be ever evolving in any industry you’re a part of.
