What year did you start at the J?
1999
What do you like the most about working at the J?
I don’t HAVE to do my job, I GET to do my job! I love what I do and I love the people I work with. We make an incredible team! I love that I get to help people. They say: “Do what you love and you’ll never work a day in your life!”
What was your prior work experience?
I’ve been employed with the JCC full-time since 2001 – first as Marketing Director and Senior Director of Fitness since September 2007. Before coming to the JCC full-time, I taught Group Fitness classes for the JCC beginning in 1999.
What special skills are you most proud of OR What do you love to do in your free time?
I don’t know that I’ve got any “special skills.” LOL! I like to cook and bake, but I wouldn’t say it’s a special skill! My husband can look in the pantry and make dinner with what’s in there! I follow a recipe!
My son would say I make GREAT sugar cookies!! (The secret to hamantaschen and sugar cookies is orange juice!)
Michael and I are competitive with one another, so if we go bowling or play mini golf, it’s pretty cutthroat! I like to read murder mysteries. (I love Harlan Coben. Right now, I’m reading “Win”)
I’m lucky to have some special friends (and my sister, Donna). We travel to hotel spas for girls’ trips a few times a year. Check out the OMNI Bedford Springs and Bear Creek Mountain Resort — both hidden gems in Pennsylvania!
What is something interesting about your family (pets included)?
I have been married to my husband, Michael, since 1993. We have one son, Morgan, and our dog, Teddi. We are close with my mom (Rheta Rosen), sister (Donna Elliott) and nephew (Daniel Elliott). We are a big sports-loving family supporting our professional teams, Orioles and Ravens, and my college, Loyola University, Maryland. Daniel plays baseball for Christopher Newport University, so you’ll see us all at CNU games! (Go Captains!) We like live music and musical theater. But, our special place is Deep Creek Lake in Western Maryland.
