Lifeguard Training
Overview
Provides entry-level lifeguard participants with the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize and respond to aquatic emergencies and to provide professional-level care for breathing and cardiac emergencies, injuries and sudden illnesses until EMS personnel take over. To be eligible, candidates must be 15 on or before the final scheduled class meeting and satisfactorily complete the prerequisite swimming skills evaluation (swim 300 yds using breaststroke and/or front crawl, tread water for 2 minutes with only the legs, timed brick retrieval from deep water). Must attend all class meetings. Lifeguarding/First Aid/CPR/AED certificate issued upon successful completion of the course, valid for 2 years.For more information, contact certifications@jcc.org or 410.559.3530.
