Summer League Swim Team

Fierce in the water but friendly on land, our summer team has developed a reputation for team and individual success. The Barracudas compete in the Central Maryland Swim League against other outdoor swim club teams in Division V. Tough competitors as a team, the Barracudas also boast a number of individual League records, and a strong history of success at the League's Straehle Championships. The season typically consists of five meets held over five weeks between June 20 and July 24 at clubs in the Central Maryland area. At home, we compete in the JCC's outdoor 25 Meter lap pool.

Please note that under CMSL League Rules, swimmers must belong to the JCC as part of a family membership. Summer members are especially welcomed!

Team Vision Statement

"We Swim for Good Times!"

The team’s vision statement can intentionally be read two ways: First, the team is focused on individual achievement, as objectively measured by “the clock.” Our team’s philosophy puts a greater value on an individual swimmer performing a best time than a swimmer who wins their race, but does not swim to their best ability.

This first approach leads directly to the second interpretation of this statement: With emphasis on team achievement and a focus that values individual improvement, the team seeks to provide a structure that encourages holistic growth and development, and provides opportunities for leadership growth and development.

Tryouts

Tryouts are available before and after evening practices (5:00-7:00pm, or after 8:00pm) Monday-Thursday evenings. Please email coachmcelroy@gmail.com or call the Swim Team office at 410.559.3536 to schedule a tryout.
