Overview

Dance with us! Our programs provide high quality training in several genres of dance. We are committed to nurturing our students’ fullest potential by building skills and fueling their love of dance in a fun and supportive environment.

All classes are independent from our grown ups, but include a final showcase where our adults watch us perform what we have learned.

Below you will see youth dance program details and class offerings at both JCC locations. For more musical theatre options, please see Children’s Theatre Production Company – and for adult dance classes, please see Creative Expression Programs.

The JCC strives to be a place where children of all abilities can participate in our programs. In order to discuss accommodations, please make sure to reach out at least 3 weeks in advance of a new class/session.

An introduction to ballet dance, classes focus on age-appropriate fundamentals of ballet including but not limited to flexibility, strength, poise, and grace. A fun filled 40 minutes, this class engages the child in dance activities incorporating music and props along with the beginnings of exploration of dance technique and ballet terminology.

A focus on the foundations of musical theatre in a fun, entertaining, and imaginative way! Every week, we begin every class with songs and games to train our tots about warming up in acting, voice, and dance. The last section of each class consists of learning a music and movement piece to age appropriate Broadway tunes, to eventually create a showcase of our very own. We hope that this class allows for our tots to aspire to the next big kid step, the CTPC Mini program for ages 5-6.

Tiny Tappers is an introduction to tap dance for ages 3-5 years old. Similar to all of our preschool age dance classes, our tapper class focuses on age-appropriate fundamentals in tap dancing. These fundamentals include but are not limited to rhythm, timing, musical awareness, and strength. A fun filled 40 minutes, this class engages the child in activities, games, and dances that incorporate music and props, as well as the rudimentary exploration of tap dance technique and its specific terminology. This is an independent class from our grown-ups, but for the last class, we will offer a final viewing in the dance studio where our adults watch us perform what we have learned. Please note that tap shoes are required to be worn for this class.

Introducing dancers to the structure of a traditional ballet class including basic barre, this class continues the understanding and execution of ballet terminology, as well as further improvement upon alignment. They will be challenged to retain choreography, as they will also be introduced to center work. The perfect continuation of Ballet Babies!

In this high energy class, dancers will learn the basics of hip hop and jazz funk styles. While grooving to some of their favorite music, they will work on rhythm and coordination while learning some basic funk moves. Best for those who enjoy high energy fun, and enjoys self-expression through movement, this age-appropriate class is a great fit for all levels of skill and experience.

In this high energy class, dancers will focus on self expression and all elements of hip hop. This includes freestyle, popping/locking, and basic breakdancing. These basic techniques will help your dancer build confidence, strength, and balance. In this open level class, it is recommended that your child have minimal dance experience but is not required.

The perfect continuation of Broadway Tots for the beginning dancer who loves jazz or the budding musical theatre enthusiast. In this high energy class, dancers will learn the foundational steps of classic jazz dance, along with important components of the style, combined with learning about emoting character and furthering plot lines through dance. Each week, we will collectively warmup and learn an abbreviated dance combination.

Guided by professional Habimah Artists In Residence, campers attend daily workshops in performing and visual arts, where they enhance their skills explore new horizons, and experience the wonders of the arts and the warmth of a supportive community.
