What year did you start at the J?
1986
What do you like the most about working at the J?
First and foremost working with the staff. We serve so many sectors of the community from infants to the senior population and this involves working with lots of staff. Our business is broken down into four sections: Youth & Families, Arts & Culture, Sports and Wellness and Infrastructure. This involves with working with many staff across these four sections of our business.
What was your prior work experience?
Most of my professional career has been spent at the J – 36 years starting on October 1st. Prior experience was as a staff accountant the Children’s Hospital on Greenspring Avenue. I worked for the hospital for eights years.
What special skills are you most proud of OR What do you love to do in your free time?
I have been fortunate to learn so much during my time at the J. On the financial side, we are about to embark on our fourth accounting system software which will replace our current system on July 1st 2023. I believe on of my best accomplishments is the setting up of these systems especially on the reporting side of our financial business. A close second would have to be budget season at the J. It’s a lot of work but so worth it! Predicting how you are going to end up financially at the end of the year six months out is gratifying and challenging at the same time.
What is something interesting about your family (pets included)?
I have been married for 41 years. My wife is a retired Pharmacist and my daughter followed in her footsteps and now has been a Pharmacist for 10 years. My son works for Navy Federal as a UX Researcher. Both of my children are both graduates of the JCC Preschool.
