The entrance of the JCC building.

We are excited to welcome our new Middle School Program Director, Rebecca Rosenfelt, to the JCC family! With a deep passion for community and youth development, she brings a wealth of experience, eagerness, and a love for all things sports! Learn more about her in the interview below.

What are you most excited about working at the J?

I think I am looking forward to the sense of community and family. I have worked with so many people here in different partnerships. I am excited to be here and be a part of the fun!

What aspects of the JCC middle school program interest you?

All of it! When given the opportunity, middle schoolers have so many great ideas and so much potential. I can facilitate a space where they can learn and be themselves. I can’t wait to see what we create this year!

What do you hope to bring to the middle school program?
Fun! I love giving the ‘tweens’ a space to be themselves, to grow, and learn, but in a fun way. They choose to be here, and I want them to be fulfilled by that choice time and time again.

How did participating in youth programs influence your career path?

I was with United Synagogue Youth, a conservative youth movement. Being a USYer changed my life. The leadership skills I learned in high school gave me the courage to take on projects and responsibilities in college and beyond.

What accomplishments are you most proud of as a youth program director?

Under my leadership, my USY chapter won Seaboard Region (Maryland, DC, Virginia and Northern North Carolina) USY Chapter of the year in back-to-back years. It was a culmination of everything I had taught them. Many of them started on board as freshman and won as juniors and seniors. Seeing their excitement was electric, and I am very proud of them. I also pride myself on the relationships I build with teens and their parents. Many of my alumni families I’m still in contact with as if we are part of each other’s families.

What is one thing few people know about you?
My family is HUGE sports memorabilia collectors. From rookie cards to autographed Super Bowl helmets we have it all! While it is mostly baseball and football, we do have some hockey and basketball mixed it. We have so much we even did our nursery in baseball greats! Go O’s!
