We are thrilled to welcome Avivit Geva as our new Jewish Arts and Culture Director at the JCC! Avivit brings a wealth of experience from her previous roles at JCCs in Ottawa and Orlando, as well as a deep passion for creating meaningful programs that connect the community to Jewish culture.
What are you most excited about your position at the J?
I am mostly excited with creating new and exciting programs and share my experience from previous jobs at the J with Film Festivals. I am also passionate about sharing how I celebrate Jewish holidays with the community here.
Could you tell us a little more about how your experience growing up in Israel impacted your relationship with the JCC?
Being born and raised in Israel made me the person I am today and affected the way I view Israel now. I am very passionate about sharing my culture and memories from back home. Moving to America so many years ago made me realize the importance of having a relationship with home, sharing the culture, and how we celebrate in Israel.
As the Jewish Arts and Culture Director, what professional or life experiences do you hope to bring to the department?
The love of creating Jewish programs for kids and adults and facilitating the love of the Jewish films and holidays of course.
Are there activities or programs you are interested in creating for the Jewish Art department?
Yes indeed! I would love to share Jewish cooking recipeswith kids, Jewish movies with the local community, and much more!
You’ve worked at multiple JCC’s! What draws you to be a part of this organization?
Being a JCC team member in Ottawa, Canada 25 years ago and again in Orlando, Florida four years ago, the J has made me feel at home.
What is one thing few people know about you?
I wear many hats, including being a pastry chef and a Jewish educator!
Is there anything else that you would like our community and staff to know about you?
I am a very lucky mom who has three successful kids, who I love and adore. I also have the most beautiful Belgian Malinois name Tahki, who’s my best friend and understands Hebrew and English, of course…:)
