Chaim Topol and Isabella Rossellini lead a powerhouse cast in this Berlin Film Festival winning drama. A secular Jewish philosophy student accepts a job as a nanny with a Hasidic Jewish family in 1970s Antwerp, Belgium. She has little knowledge and sympathy for their many centuries-old rules. Through her bond with the family’s five-year old son, she learns to accept and respect a culture steeped in traditions, inspiring her to find the true values of life.

Featuring SAG award winner Laura Fraser (Breaking Bad, Better Call Saul), this film was shown as part of the 2001 Baltimore Jewish Film Festival.

[ Drama | 1998 | 100 minutes | English | Hebrew, Yiddish ]
