Strengthening Connections: Myerberg at the J

December 05, 2024

By Lori O’Donnell

For the past 15 years, I’ve had the privilege of serving as a group fitness instructor and personal trainer at the JCC. I’ve loved helping people embrace healthier, more active lifestyles. Now, I’m thrilled to take that passion a step further by introducing Myerberg at the J—a partnership between the Myerberg Center and the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC. Together, we are strengthening our community by providing space where people can come together to learn, create, and connect.

When I first began working at the JCC, I thought I was just signing on to teach classes, work with people who wanted help along their fitness journey, and supplement some of the classes I was already teaching elsewhere. Boy was I wrong! Working at the JCC has given me so much more. The connections I’ve made with fellow instructors and people who take my classes have given me lifelong friends. People are invested in each other’s’ lives: there’s celebration, support, care, encouragement, and more importantly, connection. I am part of a community.

Although there is a strong sense of belonging and community at the JCC, people in the 55+ age range typically come in, do their work out, and leave. But what if you didn’t leave? This partnership between the Myerberg Center and the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC gives us the opportunity to strengthen all those connections already so firmly in place. Our lives are busy, and a lot of the time we’re doing things for others (grandchildren, parents, adult children), without taking time for ourselves. This is a chance to reignite some of the passions we’ve set aside and tap back into our love of learning, creative expression, pursuit of new skills, and bond with others on an even deeper level.

Myerberg at the J is your space to make new connections, try something different, and rediscover the joys of lifelong learning. Join us! Check out our schedule of activities and experience the difference this program can make. Myerberg at the J – Jewish Community Center of Greater Baltimore.

I’m excited to tell you more about program details, answer your questions, and hear your thoughts on how we can enjoy this next chapter together. Contact Lori O’Donnell at lodonnell@myerberg.org or visit the Myerberg at the J for more information.
