JOB TITLE: Kindergarten Teacher
REPORTS TO: Early Childhood Director
STATUS: Full-Time

The Stoler Early Learning Center is located at the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC in Greater Baltimore. We serve almost 200 children from the ages of 10 weeks through kindergarten. It is our belief that each child is unique, and our educators strive to address their strengths, needs, and interests in a through play. Our school is working towards living and breathing a constructivist inspired philosophy and embracing a spirit of innovation and experimentation in order to create a caring community of learners in which educators and students can grow alongside one another physically, emotionally, and intellectually.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

The certified Kindergarten teacher will lead our oldest students along their educational journey. Our “K at the J” program is based on the belief that young children learn best through active involvement with materials in their environment in order to build self-confidence and develop curiosity. By fostering communication skills, our Kindergarten teacher will use our approved curriculums to provide students with opportunities to learn about themselves and their community to acquire the knowledge that will allow them to make strong, healthy choices now and in the future. Jewish culture and values are integrated throughout the curriculum, thereby encouraging strong character development in all of students. The Kindergarten teacher will be responsible for facilitating experiences that allow our kindergarten students to be actively involved in learning about Jewish holidays, customs and traditions in a way that reflects the goals and values of the program, and the JCC as a whole.

  • Degree in Early Childhood Education; Education; Child Development or a related field.
  • Basic Judaic knowledge, including holidays, culture, traditions and values and ability to integrate
  • it into ELC programming or willingness to learn.
  • Preferred minimum of three years working in Early Childhood or Elementary Education.
  • Experience in a constructivist, child-centered setting.
  • Working knowledge of the growth and development of young children and ability to utilize this
  • information in the classroom.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills: oral, reading, writing.
  • Creative, problem solver with a “can-do” attitude.
  • Willingness to be an active member of the Early Learning Center team and embrace the
  • culture of the school community.
  • Ability to be flexible, multi-task and prioritize workload.
