Jewish Learning

Jewish ideas are universal ideas. Doing Jewish with the JCC is an interconnected experience that builds community, opens the mind and uplifts the spirit.

Our programs focus on words and ideas from local and national leaders discussing everything from Intro to Judaism to the important topics of our times to Israel-themed performances and events.

We dive deep into Jewish topics through the medium of film in our new Jewish in Cinema class, as well as the popular Exploring Jewish Films series and annual Baltimore Jewish Film Festival

If you like to learn through travel, then join us on a trip to a Jewish museum, play or event. Learn more under Trips & Events.

Jewish Learning Classes

Introduction to Judaism
View info

The Baltimore Board of Rabbis and the JCC are offering a newly revamped Introduction to Judaism program taught in partnership with the Miller Intro to Judaism Program at American Jewish University. This program is for anyone wishing to learn more and find a home in the Jewish community and offers learning and support to those on a journey to conversion. With rabbis teaching from a variety of local Baltimore synagogues, this is an experiential 16-week course that introduces the basic principles, theology, literature, and ritual/spiritual practices of Judaism through discussions and exposure to traditional texts, contemporary readings, and real-life Jewish experiences, including a trip to local synagogues and Shabbat experience. This program will also provide participants with supportive discussion groups, a community of peers and opportunities to explore Judaism beyond the classroom.

Fee: $360 for an individual OR a couple. Scholarships are available on an as-needed and case-by-case basis. We also have a 3-month payment plan available on registration.
