Mobile Sukkah Tour

Join the J's Mobile Sukkah Tour: October 5 - 8!

Sukkot, the festival of booths, is a weeklong Jewish holiday that commemorates the sheltering of the Israelites in the wilderness after they left slavery in Egypt. As sheltering in place has recently become a new normal, the custom of dwelling in a sukkah feels particularly relevant this year. “Sukkah hopping” is a holiday custom where folks hop from one sukkah to the next while visiting friends and family. Jewish laws around building a sukkah enable the structure to be placed on mobile surfaces such as a bicycle, a truck, and even a camel!

With social distancing guidelines and restrictions on large gatherings, the JCC is here to offer families a safe alternative by “popping” up a mobile sukkah in a neighborhood near you! Each stop on our Mobile Sukkah Tour will feature a chance to spend time in a sukkah and participate in a mitzvah (good deed) activity courtesy of our friends at Jewish Volunteer Connection. Entertainment from a variety of community partners and performers will vary at each location.

Pre-registration is required, with a limit of 12 families per time slot. We welcome participants of ALL abilities. If you need any accommodations, including an oral or ASL interpreter, please contact Rachel Turniansky at

Register today and join the J for an amazing opportunity to hop on our Mobile Sukkah Tour!
