J Kids Coordinator and Camp Admin

Summary

Under the supervision of the Senior Director of Camping and Senior Director of J Kids Baltimore the J Kids Coordinator is responsible for innovative children’s programs in grades K-6th grade. This includes directing the After School Kid’s Center, special event, and School’s Out days off programs. This position is also responsible for camp administrative support.

Qualifications
  • Four year college degree in related field
  • Minimum two years’ experience working in childcare or related field
  • Strong Leadership skills
  • Ability to supervise staff
  • Ability to work both collaboratively and independently and multitask under deadline
  • Excellent customer service and interpersonal skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong knowledge of computer software, including Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Comfort with Jewish knowledge
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  1. Curate, manage, and oversee the daily operation of the After School Kid’s Center program and School’s Out
    • Supervise counselors
    • Implement daily schedule
    • Maintaining fiscal responsibility
    • Maintain licensing requirements
    • Think proactively about parent, child, staff needs and expectations while consistently monitoring the overall participant experience
    • Under the advisement of the JCC Marketing department, provide input to design and implement marketing plan to increase attendance
    • Work collaboratively with other JCC staff and programs on campus as well as external groups to ensure the enhancement of the After School operation
    • Be in constant communication with Senior Director of J Kids Baltimore regarding social issues, group dynamics, and other concerns

  3. Camp Administrative duties
    • Communicate professionally and effectively with parents, campers, directors, peers and JCC staff
    • Camp Tabling
    • Concierge for parents and thought partner in recruitment and retention of campers
    • Send email communication to parents and staff
    • Manage employment paperwork and process required camper forms and ensure they are received, up-to-date, and accurate
    • Responsible for overseeing camper transportation reports for J Camps. This includes but is not limited to:
      • Responsible for inputting information into our J Camps systems, including CampMinder, E-Finnestri, Meeting Room Manager and Track-It
      • Responsible for creating and distributing weekly rosters and reports to all Owings Mills Camp Directors
      • Process program changes, cancellations, charges and refunds in a timely manner
    • Perform other duties as required or directed
General Duties
  1. Participates in departmental trainings, agency training, special events, and staff meetings
  2. Maintains and enforces agency policies and procedures
  3. Other duties as assigned
Work Environment

The work environment is usually fast paced. This job requires high energy and interaction with staff as well as with members, other agency staff, community leaders, and outside partners, vendors, others.

Physical Demands

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls and talk or hear. The employee is frequently required to sit and reach with hands and arms. The employee is required to have enough mobility essential to assisting others with less mobility. The employee must be physically able to react safely and appropriately if participant’s behaviors warrant physical action such as running or restraining. The employee may be asked to assist with transferring participants from wheelchairs.

The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
