Host a Shinshin and strengthen your family’s connection to Israel.
What is a shinshin? An amazing and energetic high school graduate who will inspire the Baltimore JCC Children’s programs with Israeli spirit! When you invite a Shinshin into your home you invite conversations about Israel, knowledge of Israeli current events, and a first-hand experience of Israeli culture. They make wonderful house guests and are eager to learn and experience American culture and share their stories of the life in Israel with your family. It is truly a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all involved!
Each family will host a shinshin for approximately 3 month at a time:
• Mid Aug-Nov
• Mid Dec-Mar. During this period of time, the Shinshinim will be away in Feb for 2.5 weeks mid
• Apr-Beginning of Aug. During this time, the Shinshinim will most likely be in sleepaway camps mid Jun-end of July.
The host families will be asked to provide a private room and meals to the Shinshinim. No need for rides - the Shinshinim will have their own transportation.
Please let us know if you would like to learn more about being a host family! Contact Smadar Haika-Fox, Shinshinim Hub Director at
