Great Renovations

Keep your eyes peeled for great renovations, upgrades and improvements to the Rosenbloom Owings Mills Locker Rooms, Fitness Center and Shapiro Aquatics Park. Look for that sparkle, shine, and hard core fitness equipment – you will not be able to miss it!

Locker Rooms

As many of you know, Women’s Locker Room renovations are underway; the locker room will reopen March 29. (Our co-ed family changing room and alternative women’s locker room by the group fitness studio are available during this time. Both have private shower facilities.

Men’s Locker Room renovations will begin March 29 and continue through mid-May (the alternative women’s locker room by the group fitness studio will be available exclusively to men during this time and the coed family changing room will also be available.)

Renovated Locker Room shower areas will feature: new tiles on the floors and walls, new partitions, shower fixtures, drains and curtains.  Upgraded changing areas will feature: new paint colors (repose gray and loch blue), new tile (blanc linen and noir linen) new drop ceilings (11 ft. high) and lighting, new carpeting (Women’s), new counter tops (Women’s), new LED lighting over counter spaces and mirrors (Women’s), and new lockers and dry-wall (Men’s).

Fitness

Leave the locker room and turn your attention to our Fitness Center and you’ll see the Rosenbloom J is sporting beautiful new, high-backed chairs and a new look and feel in our very cozy fitness lounge, a comfortable place to socialize with friends after a workout or hang out while you wait for a loved one who is taking a class.

When you go inside the fitness center for your workout, Fitness Director Raychel Setless and our professionally certified fitness team can show you the great new equipment just waiting to be lifted, pulled, stretched and punched. This equipment includes:

Raychel is also excited for the recent arrival of a Functional Treadmill on which you can walk forward or sideways, replicate the motion of pushing a sled, or carry weights on the side for additional resistance – a perfect machine for high intensity interval training (HIIT). We have also replaced all the old metal plates in the fitness center with Rubberized Plates with handles – to simplify working out and make workouts more safe and efficient.

Aquatics

JCC Senior Aquatics Director Bill Kirkner and the J team are looking forward to the construction of new stairs for the aquatics park, to replace the 40+ year old wooden stairs.

Bill is also excited about the installation of a new stroller/wheelchair accessible ramp, which will run from the lap pool down to the family/z-pool area along the perimeter of the biblical playground.

Construction on both projects is scheduled to begin this month.
