A Tale of Love and Darkness

Monday, September 9, 2019 at 1:00 pm

This film recounts the story of Israeli author Amos Oz’s childhood and coming of age during the years straddling the British Mandate of Palestine and the establishment of Israel. Directed by and starring Natalie Portman, who adapted the screenplay from Oz’s memoir.

This film is part of our Exploring Jewish Film series held in the Morstein Performa of the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC. After watching the film with fellow Cinefiles we will engage in a discussion with Professor Marc Caplan, University of Wroclaw (Poland). Caplan, a scholar of Yiddish literature, language, and culture, will examine Oz’s early life.  Light kosher snacks included.
