Soul to Soul Virtual Concert

Monday, January 18, 2021 at 4:00 pm

The Gordon Center for Performing Arts, in partnership with the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene and the JCC Association of America proudly presents:

Soul to Soul: a concert depicting the historical journeys, and shared cultural legacy of the African American and American Jewish communities in honor of Martin Luther King Jr. Day.

Soul to Soul marks the historical connections between two peoples and two cultures whose destinies have so often intersected.  The common struggle against oppression and discrimination and the ongoing strivings for equal rights and social justice have brought about alliances and close cooperation between the African American and American Jewish communities over many years.  This has given us a shared and rich musical legacy that is movingly celebrated in Soul to Soul.

The concert, conceived by its musical director Zalmen Mlotek, artistic director of the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene, stars Lisa Fishman, Cantor Magda Fishman, Elmore James, Maestro Mlotek, and Tony Perry.  This nationally broadcast concert will also feature special guest singer/actress Tatiana Wechsler, who is supervising the video production for this historic holiday performance.

Proceeds will be shared with the Gordon Center for Performing Arts and allow us to continue offering the finest, and most meaningful cultural content to our devoted community.
