Dig the soft, soulful, surf-rockin’ groove of Donavon Frankenreiter and his new album, "The Heart," as the singer-songwriter's marks the start of his second decade as a solo recording artist.

It's been over ten years since the release of the former Jack Johnson protégé’s debut, and in that time Frankenreiter has grown, not only as a musician, but as a man, raising a family and nurturing two creative careers – “one onstage and one in the waves.”

Frankenreiter says he's still learning “what makes him tick” so naturally, he named the new album after his ticker.

Frankenreiter’s songs from “The Heart” include the most sentimental, “heavy” material he has released to date. Part of that inspiration came from his co-writer, the songwriter Grant-Lee Phillips, with whom Frankenreiter has collaborated in the past.

According to Frankenreiter, "These songs are simple and intimate and honest -- not cheeky -- there's some ups and downs. I love writing positive, happy tunes, but there are also some downers here. I feel like it's where I'm at, 42 years old. Every one of these songs means a lot to me. They're from the heart."

Singer songwriter David Luning, opens the show.
