Israel, 2018 | Dir: Sameh Zoabi | Hebrew and Arabic, with English subtitles | 97 minutes

Sponsored by the Embassy of Israel, In Partnership with the New Israel Fund

Salam, an inexperienced young Palestinian man, becomes a writer on a popular soap opera after a chance meeting with an Israeli soldier. His creative career is on the rise - until the soldier and the show's financial backers disagree about how the show should end, and Salam is caught in the middle. As the television program’s plot unfolds, so does Salam’s own story, as he tries to balance everyone’s conflicting interests and his own growing affection for an old friend.

Selected by the Baltimore Jewish Film Festival committee, this satirical dramedy was the Winner of the Awards for Best Screenplay at the 2019 Ophir Awards, Best Film and Best Actor at the Venice Film Festival, and the Audience Award at both the Minneapolis St. Paul International Film Festival and the Sarasota Film Festival.

Showing on the BIG screen at Gordon Outdoors, our new drive-in movie venue! Refreshments and snacks will be available for purchase. Covid-19 safety protocols will be followed.
