What excites you most about your new role as Park Heights Program Director?
What excites me most about my new role as Park Heights Program Director is the opportunity to be deeply involved in our vibrant community — seeing familiar faces every day, connecting with friends, and creating programs that serve the unique needs of our members. I love designing experiences that foster creative development, encourage social and emotional growth, and bring people together in meaningful ways that make a lasting impact.
What do you see as the unique character or spirit of the Weinberg Park Heights JCC?
The Weinberg Park Heights JCC has a unique spirit rooted in its ability to serve a predominantly Orthodox community. While many JCCs are spaces for connecting with Judaism, our JCC provides opportunities to enhance Jewish life in ways not normally accessible to the Orthodox community — through programs, classes, and experiences that inspire growth, connection, and engagement while honoring our members’ values and traditions.
When you’re not at work, what activity or hobby recharges you the most?
When I’m not at work, I recharge by traveling and camping with my family. Exploring new places, enjoying nature, and making memories together helps me relax, refresh, and come back energized for the work I love. If I can’t get away from the city, I love exploring natural places and beautiful landscapes.
What’s your favorite way to spend a Sunday morning?
My favorite way to spend a Sunday morning is enjoying coffee and a full-on waffle bar with my family. The simple moments that start the day off right…
Do you have a favorite Jewish value or tradition that inspires you in your work?
A Jewish value that inspires me in my work is hachnasat orchim — welcoming guests. As a JCC employee, I see myself as a host for everyone who walks through our doors. I love the connections that happen when I welcome people warmly and the joy of making each person feel valued and special.
Aharona’s creativity, warmth, and dedication to community are already shining through at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC on the Goldsmith Campus. Be sure to say hello next time you visit — she’s always happy to connect and share what’s new in Park Heights programming.
