Preschool through Kindergarten
Children begin their school years at the JCC in a warm, nurturing environment led by experienced, certified early childhood educators. We provide a well-rounded program designed to build a child's self-confidence, encourage friendships, and explore new concepts. Our challenging curriculum includes music, art, circle time, swimming, gym, Hebrew, computer, cooking and creative play.
An additional benefit of our preschool/childcare program is the JCC staff of Jewish Educators, Health & Fitness instructors and the excellent facilities which are available to our young students. All school programs are certified and/or licensed by the Maryland State Department of Education, the Department of Human Resources and the Maryland State Department of Health and Hygiene.
Our program also introduces children to the customs and traditions of Jewish life, Shabbat and Jewish holidays through the integration of songs, art, stories, food and special guests.
Our state-of-the-art Early Childhood Education Wing incorporates the best in contemporary thinking about learning environments for young children. The facility features sparkling classrooms, child-size bathrooms, a gross motor room, teaching kitchen, and computer areas. The rooms are furnished with the latest, as well as time-honored, games, toys, furniture, and other materials. Our students have access to three outdoor playgrounds each of which offers a totally different environment for creative play and learning.
Preschool/Preschool Plus Programs
Ages 2 to 4 years
Each child’s strengths, needs, and interests are addressed through an integrated - Judaic and secular - curriculum. Daily activities include: creative play, physical movement, music, art, circle time, Hebrew, computer, science, cooking, swimming, story time, customs and traditions of Jewish life.Our teachers are certified in Early Childhood Education by the state of Maryland and are caring, nurturing, professionals devoted to the growth and well-being of each child.
The JCC offers a number of flexible scheduling options:
For two-year olds
• 2-day, 3-day, and 5-day a week programs
For three and four-year olds
• 3-day, and 5-day a week programs
• Morning (9:00am-12:00pm) and Full Day (9:00am-3:30pm)
• Optional Early Drop-off (7:00-9:00am or 8:00-9:00am)
• Optional Late Stay (3:30-4:00pm)
Preschool Plus (extended day)
Our Preschool Plus program is as an extended day option for children in our Preschool program. When not involved in the full day (9:00am-3:30pm) curriculum of their preschool class, our early drop off and late stay kids enjoy a nurturing “home away from home.” This is a relaxing time for free play, snacks and enrichment activities, all under the care and supervision of loving teachers and assistant teachers.
Hours: Monday-Friday*; 7:00am-6:00pm
*Friday closing times are earlier relative to the start of Shabbat.
Kindergarten
The Kindergarten program is an academic program which includes reading, math, language arts, social studies, science, Hebrew, ethics, swim, music, physical education, health science, and outside play. The JCC Kindergarten is a 39-week program. Its hours are 9:00am-3:30pm. An early morning drop-off is available as early as 7:00am and a late stay program until 4:00pm (through the Early Childhood Department) or 6:30pm (through our Kids Center program) is available to parents who need extended hours.
Healthy Choices Curriculum
this exciting nutrition and exercise program teaches our students, ages 2 to 5 (Kindergarten) about the importance of movement and of eating lots of fruits and vegetables, whole grains and healthy proteins. Learn more about this program.
