Host an Israeli Counselor This Summer!

Every summer our JCC welcomes Israeli counselors (Shlichim) to join our camp staff. The goal of this program is to give campers a visual and cultural taste of Israel and how it connects to their Jewish heritage.

This year we are welcoming five talented counselors at J Camps on our Park Heights and Owings Mills campuses.

Our Israeli counselors make wonderful house guests who are as eager to learn and experience American culture as they are to share stories of their life in Israel with your family. It truly is a rewarding and enjoyable experience for all involved.

We are looking for families to host:
June 15-July 7
July 7 - July 28
July 28 - Aug 18

If you are interested in hosting, or if you know of another family who may be interested, please contact Laura Green Kendal | 410.559.3608 | lkendal@jcc.org

2017 Shlichims

Dor
Hi my name is Dor, I am from Rishon Lezion in Israel. I am coming to camp this summer to work as the Israeli Culture specialist for J Day camp. During my national service I worked as a counselor for kids ages 6-12. I was also a counselor for children at risk. My goal for the summer is to help and make this the best summer ever! I am excited to get to Baltimore and meet everyone!

Adi Rub
Hi my name is Adi Rub. I am from Raanana in Israel. This summer I am going to be the Israeli Culture specialist for Noah’s Ark camp. I love animals, especially dogs. I am excited to come to camp to be able to strengthen the connection between Jewish children in North America and Israel. When I was in the army I worked as a social worker and got to meet new immigrants from America who came to serve in the army. After meeting them I realized how big of impact Jewish camps have on youth in America. I am excited to meet everyone this summer!

Adi B
Hi my name is Adi B and I am from Ramat Gan, Israel. I am going to be the nature specialist at J Day camp this summer. I love nature and I love to be outside. I enjoy hiking and being with friends and coming up with games to play with them. I live life through my Jewish identity and love being able to connect that back to nature. I was in the Israeli Air force. I am excited to come to Baltimore and meet all of the campers and counselors.

Aviv
Hi my name is Aviv, I am from Yiknam Eilat in Northern Israel. I am a huge dog lover and a very friendly person. I love to read and be outside in the nature. I am going to be a general counselor in J Day this summer. I have worked with kids in the past and I am excited to work with the children at camp this summer. I think this is going to be an amazing experience and I am excited to teach the children about Israel. See you this summer!

Ariel
Hello, my name is Ariel but everyone calls me Lela. I live in Ben Shemen in Israel. This summer I am going to be a dance specialist at J Camps. I love to drawing, acting, dancing and singing.  My mom did the Slichim program when she was younger and I have heard a lot of good things about the program. I am excited to come to America this summer and bring my love of art and dance to the camp. I am very good at creating activities for kids and look forward to seeing what I can bring to camp!
