History & Mission

The mission of the Arts & Culture department of the Baltimore Jewish Community Center (JCC), which includes the The Gordon Center for Performing arts, is to create a welcoming environment that engages, educates, entertains and expands the horizons of the Baltimore community through exploration and celebration of all types of art and Jewish culture.

The Goal

The mission supports partnerships within both the Jewish community and the Arts community aimed at fostering greater cross-cultural understanding and appreciation. Furthermore, the goal is to provide meaningful opportunities for life-long learning, exploration of profound ideas, stimulating conversation and community connections.

The Gordon Center, also known as The Peggy and Yale Gordon Center for Performing Arts, opened in 1995 as a multi-disciplinary arts center. Over the years, we have presented local, regional, national, and international artists in theater, dance, music, comedy, family programming, and more.
