Welcome Carly Schwartz, new head of the Meyerhoff ECE at the Weinberg Park Heights JCC! Carly comes to the J with a world of children’s program management and supervisory experience. Carly has worked for JCC MetroWest in West Orange, New Jersey, where she served as Director, Children, Youth and Teen Services. There, she oversaw MetroWest’s Kids Club Afterschool Program, planned a Jewish Education Program for grades K, 1 and 2, and served as Director of JCC MetroWest Exploration Camps and the Program Director for JCC MetroWest Camp Deeny Riback. A Brandeis University graduate, Carly holds two masters degrees: an MBA in Social Policy and Management, and an MA in Jewish Communal Service. She is very excited to be here. “I always want to work at JCC’s,” Carly says. “JCC’s are where I had my first job and it will hopefully be where I have my last job.”

“I love that the J has something for infants, for seniors and everyone in between.” As an educator, Carly says her personal style is to get out from behind the administrator’s desk, and “be a part of it,”moving in and out of the classrooms all day, getting to know the children, and talking to parents. Carly says, “Parents want their children to be someplace safe, enjoyable, and where they can hit their developmental milestones.” Carly insists on full transparency with parents “because they need to know what is happening and when it’s happening in our school.” Carly also wants her teachers to feel supported, and wants them to get the professional development they need to thrive. “Our teachers are a huge priority,” she says, “so we’ll give them training in the classroom, through classes with the Center for Jewish Education, and through other outside sources.” “Our Early Childhood Educations Centers,” Carly says, “are like a gateway to JCC life for families, an entry point for families to learn about and become involved in JCC life.”

 Infant/Toddler Care

Ages 3-24 Months
At the Meyerhoff Early Childhood Education Center (ECE), your child will be lovingly tended to by licensed child care specialists specifically trained in working with infants and toddlers. Our state-of-the art, self-contained, facility features individual cribs, changing tables, rocking chairs, and developmentally appropriate toys. Our teachers help to facilitate your child's development by continually observing, documenting and encouraging your child. We use the child's world as a way to encourage them to explore new things from freshly fallen leaves to snow to paint and more. The Meyerhoff ECE’s infant and toddler program consists of two classrooms devoted to providing nurturing care. Our infant program is designed for children 3 months until they start walking. As the children begin to walk, they transition over to our toddler room with a cohort of their peers and one of their teachers. Our toddler program continues upon the developmental steps that started in the infant room.

Daily Activities:
Ages 3 months - Early Walkers
We focus on each child's needs. We work with the children individually to tailor the day to help them grow. We work with them on things such as rolling over, crawling and pulling up, but we also work with them to start to feel independent by feeding themselves.

Early Walkers - 24 months
We provide opportunities to explore preschool activities including gym, music, cooking and art. We help them to start to gain control over their environment by teaching them how to do things for themselves.

Monday - Thursday: 7:00am-6:00pm
*Fridays - 7:00am-5:45pm

*Fridays during October – March:  closing times vary in observance of Shabbat
