Special Needs Summer Camps

Ages 15-26
June – August 2016

Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC

KLAL (Keep Living and Learning) is an exciting summer program focused on recreational and vocational activities. It is a self-contained camp for young adults with learning, developmental, social, emotional, and physical disabilities. At Camp KLAL, we treat young adults as unique individuals and work to help each camper learn new skills, experience new challenges, and grow both functionally and personally in a supportive and caring environment. In addition to their daily activities, participants will engage in community service projects, receive specialized training in social, functional, and vocational skills, and take a weekly trip to Pearlstone Adventures.

Being part of a community offers each participant opportunities to enjoy, share, and work together toward common goals and to better understand the needs of others. In this environment, campers take pride in their achievements and recognize the significance of his or her own contributions to the community. Most importantly, a Camp KLAL’s summer will be filled with a lot of smiles and fun every day!

Inclusion for Campers with Special Needs

Grades K-5

Our Inclusion Program is designed for children with a range of learning, developmental, social, emotional, and physical disabilities. Our in Inclusion campers are included in all age-appropriate bunks with their non-disabled peers and participate along with the rest of their bunk in instructional and recreational swim and all regular camp activities. They are paired on 1:1 or 2:1 basis with specially-trained counselors.

If you think your child could benefit from this program, please indicate this on your camp application. We will contact you closer to the spring to let you know if there is space available. For new applicants, if space is available, a personal interview, contract, and completion of a release form will be required closer to the spring so that we are able to determine if we can successfully serve the needs of your child. Expressing interest in either program does not guarantee acceptance. If the program is not a match for your child, your deposit and all monies paid will be fully refunded.
