About the Children’s Theater Production Company
This program is designed to develop imagination, concentration, character, professionalism, and technique, and to strengthen the participant’s command of his/her body and voice. Children find a dynamic experience whether they are beginners exploring acting for the first time, or more seasoned actors looking to gain experience from trained professionals.

2017 Spring Production presents Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR. & Oompa Loopmas On the Loose
Audition now, for J’s Children’s Theater Production Company’s Spring musical production of Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR and Oompa Loompas on the Loose. The “scrumdidilyumptious” adventures of Charlie Bucket at Willy Wonka’s mysterious chocolate factory light up the stage in these captivating adaptations of Roald Dahl’s fantastical tale. 

More than simple factory assistants, the Oompa Loompas voice the true moral of the story behind Willy Wonka’s legacy. Five eager children win a trip to the factory, children will learn that it’s the one with a golden ticket AND a golden personality.

Children’s Theater Production Company: Roald Dahl’s Willy Wonka JR., based on Dahl’s timeless story of the world-famous candy man and his quest to find an heir. Limited roles for first and second graders. Those eligible will have the opportunity to audition for both shows to find the best fit.

Kristi Schaffner
Director

Kristi Schaffner has worked as a musical theater dance instructor at Habimah Arts Camp and as the Director of the J’s 2015 and 2016 Children’s Theater Production Company’s fall program.  Miss Kristi, as she is affectionately known has also worked as a performing arts educator since 2000. She holds a BFA from Kent State University and an MFA from the University of Oklahoma. As a professional performer, she makes appearances with local dance companies, opera productions, as well as various theatrical endeavors. 

Miss Kristi works with performers of all ages and has experience with directing, choreographing, and instructing a wide range of styles and genres in private arts organizations, charter schools, and integrated arts learning environments. She is currently an adjunct professor at the Community College of Baltimore County and has been on the production team for many musical theater productions in the Baltimore/Washington Metropolitan area.
