Getting in, getting wet, and getting under. These three skills comprise the swim level known as Introduction to Water Skills, or American Red Cross Level 1. Fundamental Aquatic Skills are next, followed by Stroke Development, Stroke Improvement, Stroke Refinement, and Swimming and Skill Proficiency. While the J sees swimmers of all ages advance through these increasing skill levels, it also offers classes in water aerobics, deep water aerobics and Arthritis Foundation Aquatics.
Swim lessons fill up early, to ensure your spot in your chosen class please sign up at least 5 days prior to the start of the lesson. We cannot guarantee a spot for last minute registrations because we may not be prepared with adequate staffing.
Swimming Lesson Policy
Sometimes the pool becomes unavailable for swimming lessons due to circumstances beyond our control. If the pool is unavailable for swimming lessons due to inclement weather or health and safety related issues, our instructors will conduct a land-based session including either water safety and/or land-based stroke drills at the instructor’s discretion. Make-up lessons will not be scheduled if a water session needs to be missed for one of these reasons. The JCC does not provide refunds for missed water sessions.
