Registration Information

Precourse/ Swim Test Policy:
Many of our courses (Lifeguarding, Water Safety Instructor, Lifeguarding Instructor, all Instructor Trainer Practica) require the successful completion of a “Precourse” test of skills before the student may participate in the course. (Specific prerequisite information is detailed in each course listing.)

Course fees must be paid at the time of registration. In the event a participant fails to successfully complete a precourse skills test, all but $95 of the registration fee will be returned. The $95 fee may be used to pay the fee for a session of “Lifeguard Readiness” or “WSI Stroke Clinic” swimming lessons at the JCC. This fee may also be credited towards the cost of a Lifeguard Review course. All credits must be used within 60 days of the unsuccessful Precourse.

Proof of age/eligibility

  • Candidates for American Red Cross Lifeguard Challenge courses are required to show original copies of prior certification before they will be permitted to enter the exam.
  • Candidates will be required to furnish proof of age by the start of the second course meeting showing that they will have reached the prerequisite minimum age for the course on or before the last scheduled day of the course. We are not permitted to waive the minimum age requirements for any of our courses.
  • Candidates under the age of 18 should submit a Parental Consent and Contact form along with their registration form and deposit.

Payment does not guarantee certification

Although our goal as instructors is to help students successfully complete their certification goals, students are sometimes not able to adequately complete the stated requirements for the course. Payment of the course fee and participation in class does not guarantee certification; students must successfully complete all course objectives in order to be certified.

The JCC of Greater Baltimore has relationships with several area hotels who may be able to offer discounts.  Please contact the School Registrar at least one week before your class is scheduled to begin to arrange accommodations, if needed.
Meals/ Kosher Food Policy
At the Rosenbloom Owings Mills JCC and Weinberg Park Heights JCC:
A kosher café is located on site at each facility where students can purchase lunch or snacks. In addition, each location is near a number of local restaurants; adequate time will be provided during full-day classes for students to leave the campus and pick up lunch elsewhere if they choose.

Kosher Food Policy

We maintain Jewish dietary laws, and we request your cooperation when at the JCC. All food served at the JCC should be kosher, and non-kosher food may not be brought into the cafe area.

No Smoking Policy

Due to the fact that many of the people we serve are young children, elderly, or have a sensitivity to smoke, there is no smoking at any time at any of the facilities of the Jewish Community Center.
